MCTC Celebrates Black History Month With Spirit and Soul

On February 17, 2012, from 7-8:15 p.m., MCTC, in partnership with the Basilica of Saint Mary, will be celebrating Black History Month with Spirit and Soul, a celebration to honor the achievements made by students of African descent.

The main event, held in the Basilica Sanctuary, will include spoken word, music and dance performances. Performers will include Jerry Steele from the Lundstrup Center for Performing Arts, Papa Diop, the MCTC Jazz Ensemble and Cedar Riverside Art Zone for Youth. There is no reservation required for the main event at 7 p.m., and free parking will be available in the MCTC Parking Ramp, next to the Basilica.

A dessert reception will follow the main event in the Basilica Teresa of Calcutta Hall in the lower level of the undercroft. Reservations for the dessert reception must be made by February 14, 2012. For more information about the event, or to reserve your space for the dessert reception, please visit the Spirit and Soul website at www.minneapolis.edu/BHM.

Spirit and Soul is generously sponsored by the MCTC Foundation and WCCO News.
