3rd Annual Power of Giving Fundraising Luncheon

Power of Giving 2011On May 19, the Minneapolis Community and Technical College Foundation held its 3rd Annual Power of Giving Fundraising Luncheon. The event was a tremendous success! Nearly 300 people attended and the Foundation raised $75,000 for scholarships, programs and emergency grants. The outpouring of support by individuals and businesses  was outstanding.

All-USA Academic Team members Geoff Dittberner, Aaron Spiegel and DJ Sule with Raul Ramos (Chancellor's Office) and MCTC President Phil Davis.

At the event, we took the opportunity to recognize MCTC’s All-USA Academic Team award recipients. The All-USA Academic Team award is one of the most prestigious honors provided to community and technical college students nationally. Only 20 students are selected each year nation-wide. MCTC has had five students who have been named to the All-USA Academic Team.

As much as we wanted to communicate to our audience the need for support, we also wanted show them that MCTC is a place where students can receive a high quality education.

Guests also heard several touching stories of MCTC students who benefited from strangers stepping up to lend their support through financial contributions. That support makes all the difference.

Many people commented after the event on how impressed they were with MCTC and its students. We are grateful for the support and thrilled to have many new friends. We could not have accomplished what we did at this event without the generosity of so many.

A special thanks to our sponsors for making this event possible.
